Lindy was born with severe cerebral palsy. She also has ataxia, poor balance, and poor speech. Originally from Hong Kong, she immigrated to Canada in 1990.
For Nora, the biggest challenge she faced was 鈥渨hat was going on inside my own head. I had a lot of things happen in a short period of time that were a big blow to my self-confidence,鈥 she says.
Ryan, who鈥檚 19 years old, has right side hemiplegia, a partial paralysis of one side of the body that results from disease of or injury to the motor centers of the brain.
26-year-old Jessica, originally from Whitehorse, Yukon, now resides in Regina, Saskatchewan. In 2009 she was involved in a serious car accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury.
