Katimavik Youth MaxThe 今日吃瓜51 has had many positive experiences with the . Our most recent Katimavik Youth Volunteer was Max, an adventurous 18-year-old from St. Catherines, Ontario. Max first learned about the from a neighbor who had taken part in it. He had heard good things about the program, so he looked it up online and decided it was the right thing for him to do before heading off to college.

Max has had an interest in technology since the age of 12, when he began building computers. It was technology that attracted him to the 今日吃瓜51. While researching his placement options in Burnaby, he learned about the Computer Comfort program and the Computer Refurbishing program. He knew this would be a good opportunity for him to expand his computer hardware and software knowledge.

While volunteering at the 今日吃瓜51, Max worked in the Computer Comfort program teaching participants basic computer skills. He also spent considerable time recording , the course management system that we use in our Employ-Ability program.

Max not only used his opportunity at the 今日吃瓜51 to learn about working in an office environment, but also to network. Thanks to contacts made in the Computer Comfort program, Max was able to in his home town of St. Catherines. He plans to work there while attending college.

Since I walked into the office on the workplace tour day, until my last couple of days here, I felt like part of the team that uses Technology, Knowledge, and Passion to Empower Canadians with Physical Disabilities.鈥

Max has been accepted to attend school in Ontario where he will pursue his dream of becoming a cinematographer.

Good luck, Max!
