Tanner was looking for meaningful and long term employment.
Hailing from Regina, he had previously worked as an actor for police training scenarios, but was laid off.
Diagnosed with聽, Tanner was referred to the Neil Squire Prairie Regional office, where he was enrolled in the Group Employment Skills Program, and was assigned a job developer to work one-on-one with.
Throughout the process, he learned many valuable employment readiness skills.
鈥淣eil Squire has taught me how to better tailor my resume and cover letter to be more specific to potential future jobs,鈥 he shares. 鈥淭hey have also taught me the importance of understanding how my brain works and finding ways to make it useful in the workplace.鈥
During the weekly Group Employment Skills Program webinars, Tanner was always extremely engaged in the topics and contributed his insightful comments to the group discussions. His commitment and hard work did not go unnoticed.
An employer was looking for a dependable and self-motivated individual for a job opportunity, and contacted the Neil Squire Prairie Regional office. Staff recommended Tanner, and he forwarded his resume to the employer and was brought in for an interview.
During the interview, Tanner impressed the employer with his ability to communicate and market his skills and he got the job.
Tanner now works as a custodian for a busy community centre that provides programming to youth and adults throughout the week. Tanner works with his employer to stay engaged in physical activity throughout the workday so that he doesn鈥檛 lose focus.

鈥淲orking with Neil Squire has definitely made me more confident; especially in my working life. I feel I have been given a lot more tools that will help me in all aspects of work 鈥 from finding jobs I may be interested in, to applying, to eventually being hired. The biggest thing I鈥檝e gotten out of working with Neil Squire, though, is the confidence boost that comes with finding employment in the midst of a worldwide pandemic.鈥
