MMC Device Roundup: Arthritis Awareness Month 2024

Did you know that September is Arthritis Awareness Month in Canada? According to Arthritis Canada, approximately six million Canadians are affected by arthritis. Many of the devices in our library are designed for people with arthritis. Here鈥檚 a look at some of our favourites.

We鈥檙e going to look at some of the new devices in our Assistive Device Library. In today鈥檚 Device Roundup, up first is the Felting Needle Holder, a simple 3D printed device that makes it easier to do needle felting for people with limited hand strength and/or dexterity.

These 3D printed Tactile Maps are intended as a learning tool to help people with visual impairments learn how to navigate different intersections as a pedestrian, along with the accompanying traffic signs and signals.

Digital Jumpstart Helps Judy See a Bright Future

A previous participant in Neil Squire鈥檚 programs, Judy decided to join the Digital Jumpstart program to learn how to use Dragon Naturally Speaking to use her voice to use the computer, as her arthritis makes it difficult to type.
