Your support helps people with disabilities like Bluejay. We provided Bluejay with a 鈥渟afe place to learn and to grow confidence to achieve goals鈥 and supported him as he went back to school, graduated grade 12, and got a job. 鈥淚 didn鈥檛 realize until I started working that I鈥檓 a hard worker.鈥
Bluejay first came to the Footprints Centre about 10 years ago, pushed by his older brother to find something to do with his life. Since then, he鈥檚 grown so much, going to the local college to finish his high school degree and has been a valued employee at his company for over four years.
Indigenous Disability Awareness Month (IDAM)聽brings awareness of these barriers and the issues that Indigenous peoples living with disabilities and their families face every day.
Today we observe Orange Shirt Day and the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.
