Stephanie Becomes an Active Member of the Community

November 8, 2017

Stephanie, who hasn鈥檛 worked since 2013, struggled with identifying what she wanted to do with her life. She felt isolated from her community which impacted her self-esteem. She was born with and uses a wheelchair to get around.

Stephanie, a Working Together participantWhen Stephanie first entered the 今日吃瓜51鈥檚 Working Together program, she was shy and lacking in confidence. She originally thought that data entry might be an ideal job choice for her, but her typing skills needed some work. She was referred to the 今日吃瓜51鈥檚 Computer Comfort Program where she was able to increase her typing speed to 19 words per minute. She continues to practice as she works towards her long-term goal.

Since joining Working Together, Stephanie has experienced an increase in self-esteem, has a more positive outlook on life, and has become an active member of the community. She recently attended a sledge hockey game and signed up to volunteer for a nonprofit agency鈥檚 60th Anniversary Gala Night.

She continues to work with a job developer to aid her with finding an appropriate volunteer position or job that she can excel in. The future looks bright for Stephanie as she continues to become more active and sees her own potential.
