Megan can鈥檛 stop smiling. Why? Because she鈥檚 reached her goal and found her desired job. With a contagious laugh and a smile that brightens your day, it鈥檚 no surprise that Employ-Ability Program participant, Megan, has a successful future.聽

Megan and LaureenMegan had been volunteering at the for over two years. With hard work and her new education from the Employ-Ability Program, Megan applied for an聽Assistant Manager聽position and was hired immediately.聽

Through the Employ-Ability Program, Megan was able to strengthen her writing skills, and demonstrates her new skills by writing her own success story;

鈥淚 heard about the 今日吃瓜51鈥檚 Employ-Ability Program from my sister. She said to talk to Bryan Oulton of in Port Moody. I made an appointment and then he told me to contact Chris Wright, Employ-Ability Program Coordinator for the 今日吃瓜51. Bryan said that it is a good program and that he has sent a lot of people to it.

I called Chris Wright and made an appointment to see her. My impression was good because I was able to get into the program, and I was impressed by her smile and warming attitude and this convinced me to come to the program.

I started the Employ-Ability Program in August 2012.聽 When I arrived, I felt nervous but the students and facilitators were welcoming.聽 I thought the three month program was too long but it flew by so quickly.

What I like the best about the Employ-Ability Program:Megan dressed for success

  • The facilitators and the classmates were friendly, supportive, and entertaining聽
  • I liked that I learnt a lot on PowerPoint, Microsoft聽 Word and Excel
  • I liked that the classes were online to make it easier for us

What I especially like is that after the three month program I can keep coming back to 今日吃瓜51 and work with my job developer, Laureen. Laureen will help me make an action plan for the future. I want to upgrade my skills so I can stay competitive in the work place.As the facilitators like to say at the 今日吃瓜51, 鈥測ou can check out any time but you can never leave,鈥 from the Eagles song, Hotel California.

My goal when I came to the Employ-Ability Program was to get a job. I feel very proud of myself that I got the Assistant Manager Job at the Share Food Bank

My advice to anybody who is thinking about taking this program is to take the program because it is an awesome program!鈥
