Mike Learns How to Master the Tools of His Trade

August 17, 2010

Mike, who is , was out of work when a friend referred him to the ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï51’s Employ-Ability program in Regina, Saskatchewan. “I had been in a rut for some time,†says Mike. “With the downturn in the economy, I decided to seek employment again, realizing I probably need to make money to have a secure future.â€

Mike initially joined the program in order to master the computer, however, he quickly realized that “all the other parts of the program are equally valuable.†In order for Mike to be competitive in the workforce and in his chosen profession of data entry, he realized that he would have to learn how to use voice recognition software. “The main thing is to master the tool of my trade, which is the computer, and take full advantage of the networking and coaching options provided by the ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï51 to find a job, or to possibly go on to further job training,†says Mike.

“Since I started the program, I found that I’m using my time much more wisely, and that there is never enough of it. I’ve also realized that getting into the workforce won’t be easy but it will be worthwhile and rewarding. And I take confidence in the fact that the Society will be there for me to come back to even after the course is over, until I eventually gain employment,†says Mike, “I enjoy the people in the program, and I very much like coming here everyday, learning about myself, technology and how to get a job in today’s market.â€

Good luck, Mike!
