Maria’s New Hearing Aids are “Incredibly Helpful” on the Job

October 11, 2024

Maria is a family court support worker. Her duties include intakes, referrals, providing emotional support, and accompanying clients during court hearings and meetings.

A woman holds her coat and briefcase in front of a building. She has hearing loss, which makes it hard to hear in public spaces and during court hearings and meetings. In particular, she was having trouble hearing her clients when they need to speak quietly.

Her audiologist referred her to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services for help funding the hearing aids she needs for work.

“The cost [would] be very expensive for me,” she says. “[I received] financial support to purchase my hearing aid, [which] has been incredibly helpful for my job.”

Maria says she “aDZܳٱ” recommends the WorkBC Assistive Technology Services program to others, praising the “very helpful and informative” service she received from staff. Thanks to the hearing aids, the difference on the job has been night and day for Maria.

“[It’s] improving my capacity to hear the people that I am working with,” she shares. “I am already experiencing the difference in my job during the court hearings and meetings.”
