Linda’s New Hearing Aids Help Her in the Classroom

October 16, 2024

Linda works as a Certified Education Assistant in the Okanagan, helping students who need more support in the classroom.

A teacher writes on a students notebook while looking over their work. She has hearing loss, which impacts her ability to hear instructions from the classroom teacher — she often has to check back with the teacher to confirm instructions. Since many of the children she works with speak quietly, she also has to lean closer to hear the students.

WorkBC Assistive Technology Services helped Linda access funding for a new set of hearing aids. With her new hearing aids, she can hear so much better on the job, and they have improved her ability to communicate with teachers and students.

Linda is very happy with the service she received from WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, particularly praising staff for helping her to find more affordable hearing aids, in addition to the funding she received.

WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
