Kerri Navigates Employ-Ability with JAWS

Employ-Ability Participant, KerriKerri lost her vision when she was ten months old due to a . The disease damaged her which permanently affected her vision. In addition, her bones are brittle and can facture easily. Kerri, who lives in , participated in the 今日吃瓜51鈥檚 Virtual Employ-Ability Program from her home.

鈥淢y experiences with the Virtual Employ-Ability Program have been extremely positive,鈥 she shares. Kerri is an experienced user of software, a type of assistive technology which reads electronic text out loud. Kerri was able to use JAWS to navigate the Employ-Ability content and she was able to move through the Program independently and at her own pace. 鈥淚 feel that Virtual Employ-Ability鈥檚 strongest asset, besides the staff, is the self-paced aspect which allows participants to juggle other commitments while eliminating the need for expensive transportation to a centre,鈥 says Kerri.

With the guidance of Program Coordinator, Natalie Ducey, Kerri successfully completed all the Wellness for Work lessons, the Career Assessment and Career Research components of the Program. She is focused on a career as an Information and Referral Clerk and is currently developing her resume and cover letter.
