Alphabet tiles laid out on the floor. After being referred by her high school teacher, Johanna joined our Creative Employment Options program, working with a Job Developer to find suitable employment.

While in the program, Johanna learned the importance of a properly formatted resume and cover letter, and she was shown how to tailor each to specific postings of interest. Furthermore, she set goals for herself and learned how individuals who create goals for themselves often find more success than those who do not.

As she progressed, Johanna also learned about interviews and how applicants can prepare and set themselves up to make a positive first impression.

One of the most important things Johanna learned about was the importance of networking to access jobs that may not be posted and created a list of current contacts.

Through networking, Johanna was able to discover an exciting employment opportunity ahead of her summer break. After submitting her resume and cover letter she was invited to interview with the company. Johanna thoroughly impressed the hiring manager during her interview and was offered a position shortly after.

She is now working part-time as a Support Staff helping in the company鈥檚 daycare. Johanna was excited to find part-time employment in time for summer break and is looking forward to learning more skills at her new job.
