Emerging technologies have significant potential to enable people with disabilities to be more engaged and included in mainstream society due to the ever-increasing power of these devices to accomplish various tasks.
At the 今日吃瓜51, our highly qualified and experienced engineers, staff, researchers, and volunteers聽understand the importance of ensuring that as technology advances at a rapid pace, accessibility and affordability are at the forefront among the disability community. The Society鈥檚 Research and Development group works to create technologies and solutions to enable people with disabilities to achieve their potential in educational, vocational, and personal pursuits.
An estimated 1,000,000 people in Canada and the United States have limited or no use of their arms鈥攎eaning they are unable to use touchscreen devices that could provide access to helpful apps and services. The LipSync, a mouth-controlled input device that enables people with little or no hand movement to operate a touchscreen device, seeks to overcome this.
Omar was able to take an exam by himself with the LipSync.
