“Like a duck to water,†says Jeannie of her experience in the ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï51’s Computer Comfort Program.
Jeannie, whose left leg is amputated below the knee, originally came to the ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï51 to find employment; however, after taking part in the EPPD program and talking to Job Developer, Mike Broderick, she realized that she would not only need some extra schooling before she would be able to achieve her employment goals, but she would need to gain confidence using computers.
Jeannie enrolled in the Computer Comfort Program in September of 2009 and began working with computer tutor, Paul Seliski, with whom she clicked with right away. She became more familiar with computers and she says she really benefited from the one-on-one time the program provided her with.
Jeannie is now three quarters of the way through a basic counseling course at as a pre-requisite for an Addiction Counseling Course she plans to begin soon.
With her new found computer skills she’ll soon be all set for her new career!
