Tania-Lynn has been taking courses to upgrade her skills and achieve her career goals, while also working in retail. However, she was having difficulties hearing during her studies and while working.
鈥淭he Assistive Technology Services program has positively impacted my life,鈥 Laura says. 鈥淭hese accommodations have significantly improved my ability to work collaboratively with my team and attend regular meetings. Without them, I would face communication barriers that could hinder my work.”
Early last year, Lorne experienced sudden hearing loss, before also losing his ability to speak. He uses a pen and notepad, limited lip-reading skills, and American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate. He also uses a small clip-on microphone that transmits the speaker’s voice directly into his ears using wireless technology that connects to his hearing aids. Despite these supports, he has struggled to find work.
Over two days from August 20th to 21st, eight youth with disabilities from British Columbia took part in our first ever Adaptive Gaming Virtual Day Camp, co-hosted by our friends at Technology for Living.
