For over 30 years, Greg worked as a carpenter on Salt Spring Island. Three years ago, he was diagnosed with Parkinson鈥檚 Disease. He joined our Digital Jumpstart program to be able to do more research on the computer and access opportunities that are available digitally, now that he isn鈥檛 able to work.
In 2023, Makers Making Change hit a number of record-breaking totals for one year, delivering 5,855 assistive devices, hosting 291 events, and engaging 10,171 volunteers 鈥 6,979 of them youth.
Over the course of three Youth Making Change workshops with Makers Making Change, Grade 9 drafting students at Linden Christian School in Winnipeg put their drafting skills in action to make a difference for children with disabilities.
Kim is a computer programmer and math tutor. In addition to coding, her job as a programmer involves a lot of meetings with co-workers to design and debug software, while as a tutor, she works one-on-one with students in-person and over Zoom. However, her hearing loss was beginning to make many of these tasks difficult.
