A New Career for a New Stage in Life

Harmeet, who has and navigates with a , came to the 今日吃瓜51 upon moving back to Canada after a stint in the United States. As his family began to grow, he and his American wife both felt the desire to return to Canada.

Employ-Ability participant HarmeetIn the States, he had been working in sales and as a supervisor in a call centre. The labour market in British Columbia for call centres has been disappearing recently as many of these jobs are being sent offshore. Harmeet knew he needed to make a career change, but he didn鈥檛 know what he wanted to do.

Harmeet enrolled in the Society鈥檚 Employ-Ability program where he explored career options. The program gave him the opportunity to really take a look at who he was at this new stage of his life.

He was drawn to working in the field of employment services but he learned that without a university degree, opportunities for him would be limited. The other career that fascinated him was that of a Massage Therapist. This proved to be an excellent match for him. Harmeet started his training with the this past winter. He is looking forward to running his own business when he gets more experience as a Massage Therapist.
