On December 3rd, approximately 100 volunteers joined us for our annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities build event in Fredericton hosted in partnership with the New Brunswick’s Premier’s Council on Disabilities.
Volunteers of all ages worked together to adapt over 60 toys for our Hacking for the Holidays campaign.
鈥淭his was our third year attending this, and the kids really look forward to it each year. We love it for several reasons, including learning about who the toys will help, building skills in following directions and problem solving, and they especially love the soldering to adapt the toys. It has become an annual tradition that is highly anticipated for us,鈥 shares mother Krista, who participated in the build with her family. (She shared the photo above with us).
We鈥檙e also very grateful to the many organizations that joined us and volunteered their time.
Throughout our Hacking for the Holidays campaign, we鈥檙e looking to adapt and donate 2,000 toys and switches to families and clinicians across Canada. To do this, we need your help to raise $140,000 to spread the joy of play this holiday season. Every dollar counts 鈥 many battery-operated toys can be adapted with just $5 of parts, while $50 can cover the whole cost of a toy and switch.
